Exness review for signal traders: accounts, gold, MT4 and MT5

Exness is the one broker in this series whose UK and EU companies do not serve retail clients at all, whose accounts are swap-free by default rather than by request, and whose copy trading closed on 25 June 2026. For a signal follower outside Europe that leaves five account types on MT4 and MT5, read here from Exness's own pages and help centre on 21 Oct 2026, with the page named for each figure. We have no partnership with Exness.

Who you are actually signing with

Exness says it set out in 2008 and lists ten companies on its regulation page. Four serve "selected jurisdictions outside the European Economic Area": Exness (SC) Ltd, Seychelles FSA licence SD025; Exness B.V., Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten, 0003LSI; Exness (VG) Ltd, BVI FSC, SIBA/L/20/1133; and Forexite Ltd, Belize FSC, 9110312. Which of the four contracts a given client is not stated. Three more run country sites in Kenya (CMA licence 162), Jordan (JSC 51905) and South Africa (FSCA 51024).

Then the two that matter to many of our readers for what they do not do. Exness (UK) Ltd holds FCA registration 730729 and "does not offer services to retail clients"; Exness (Cy) Ltd holds CySEC licence 178/12 and the same line applies. The homepage lists Europe and the United Kingdom among the places the group does not serve, with the USA and Canada. No Australian entity is named.

Negative balance protection is stated without qualification: "you never lose more than you have deposited", with the reset to zero automatic after a stop out.

The accounts, as published

Zerofrom 200 USD0.0 pips; top 30 instruments at zero 95% of the dayfrom 0.05 USD a lot a sideMT4, MT5

Standard, Pro, Raw Spread and Zero state a 0.01 minimum lot; Standard also states a 60% margin call and a 0% stop out. The help centre adds: "Exness does not offer ECN accounts."

The commission arithmetic runs the other way here. EUR/USD moves $10 a pip per standard lot, so Raw Spread's commission of up to $3.50 a side, $7 round turn, is up to 0.7 pips on top of a spread from 0.0; Standard starts at 0.2 pips and Pro at 0.1, both with no commission. On the floor figures Pro is the cheapest and Raw Spread the dearest; Zero's "from 0.05 USD" a side varies by instrument with no per-symbol table. Floors are not averages, and Exness publishes no typical spread for any account, so Pro against Zero is a question for a demo.

Leverage is set by equity: up to 1:2000 by default below 5,000 USD, with "1:Unlimited" for those who qualify with ten closed orders totalling five lots, then 1:1000 from 30,000 USD and 1:500 from 100,000 USD. In metals, unlimited covers only gold and silver; the Kenyan entity caps at 1:400. At 1% a trade none of this is needed; the position sizing guide shows why the stop sets the lot and the leverage only sets the margin.

Gold, MT4 and MT5

Gold is on both platforms by Exness's own statements: XAUUSD is in the swap-free list, XAUUSDc is among the 35 Cent symbols, and MT4 and MT5 are the stated platforms for every account. The gold spread per account is not stated; the XAUUSD page's spread table rendered empty.

So the demo does the work. On a Cent account the symbol carries a c suffix, XAUUSDc, which the copier must be told about; our guide to broker symbol suffixes covers how. Log the spread at the London open and again between 22:00 and 01:00 UK time.

Swap-free, by default and with conditions

"By default, all accounts are swap-free." The status applies to the whole Personal Area and can be lost if a client does not trade mostly during trading hours and regularly holds large overnight positions. The covered list includes the majors, listed minors, XAUUSD, XAGUSD, USOIL, UKOIL, cryptocurrencies and indices; swaps are charged on other metals, energies, minor pairs, exotics and stocks. No administration fee is stated on the page we read. For a gold swing trade that differs from a broker whose swap-free is a separate account with a nightly fee; what the hold costs elsewhere is in our piece on swap on gold.

Funding and withdrawals

Exness states it charges no deposit or withdrawal processing fees, and that some payment methods and banks may. The methods are not named on the public pages; each shows its time, fees and limits inside the Personal Area. On withdrawals Exness states "Funds sent within seconds, even on weekends", with over 98% processed automatically and the rest within 24 hours, and it may charge fees on withdrawals from accounts with no trading activity.

Copy trading: closed

The Exness social trading help centre states that "all existing investments and strategies close on June 25, 2026", and the homepage no longer mentions copy trading. A member who wants signals placed on an Exness MT4 or MT5 account therefore follows a channel and runs a copier, with the lot size and stop rules set by them. The signal is visible before it is placed, and the account stays yours.

What Exness does not publish

Which entity signs an international client. A minimum deposit for Standard and Standard Cent. A typical spread for any account, and any gold spread. The names of its payment methods. Leverage per entity outside Kenya. A head office. Gaps, not red flags; the Personal Area answers the funding ones and support the rest.

Who Exness suits, from the terms alone

  • A trader outside the EEA and the UK who wants MT4 or MT5 with gold, swap-free by default, 0.01 lots, and withdrawals the broker says clear in seconds.
  • A small account on Standard Cent, where gold trades as XAUUSDc.

Who it suits less: retail clients in the UK or EU; anyone in the US or Canada; a trader who wants to see spreads before opening; and anyone who came to Exness for its copy trading.
