Who you are actually signing with
Two companies appear on FBS's sites. The international site's privacy policy names FBS Markets Inc., incorporated in Belize under certificate 000001317, with a Belize City address. No regulator or licence number appears there, and the home, about and legal index pages carry none either; the about page says only "We operate under multiple local FBS licenses". The Belize FSC's public register is a JavaScript application we could not read, so we could neither confirm nor rule out a licence from the regulator's side.
The EU site is different: owned and operated by Tradestone Limited, registration HE 353534, authorised by CySEC under licence 331/17, and it states negative balance protection. No UK or Australian entity is named. US residents are not mentioned, and the customer agreement page returned an error, so the restricted list was not readable. Outside the EU you contract with the Belize company, and the regulator question is one to put to FBS in writing before any money moves.
The accounts, as published
The trading accounts and trading conditions pages on fbs.com would not load for us, so the international account names are not recorded here. What the readable pages state:
| Account | Minimum deposit | Spread from | Commission | Platforms named |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| International (type not stated) | $5 ($100 recommended) | 0.7 pips | 0 | MT4, MT5, FBS app |
| EU Standard | €100 or equivalent in USD | 0.7 pips | not stated | MT5 |
| EU Cent | €10 or equivalent in USD | 0.7 pips | not stated | MT5 |
The help centre puts the minimum at $5 "but this may vary for different payment systems", with Neteller at $10 and Skrill at $12. EU accounts run at 1:30 leverage.
With zero commission there is no commission-to-pips arithmetic to do; the spread is the whole cost, and 0.7 pips on EUR/USD is $7 a standard lot, what a $7 round-turn commission account charges before its own spread. FBS prints two EUR/USD figures on one specification page: "Floating spreads from 0.7 pips" in the body and "starting from 0.5 points" for volatile pairs such as EURUSD and XAUUSD in the FAQ. Plan on the 0.7 and check a demo; the table rows did not render for us.
Gold, MT4 and MT5
The XAUUSD page offers MT4 and MT5 links alongside the FBS app, and the MT4 page lists metals, so gold is on both MetaTrader versions and a copier on either can take our gold signals. The minimum lot on XAUUSD is 0.01.
The leverage point is the one to write down: the home page says "Leverage up to 1:3000" and the forex page repeats it. The metals FAQ says something else: "At FBS, the leverage is fixed at 1:500 for all metals." A gold trade runs at 1:500 whatever the headline says. That is far more than a trader at 1% risk a trade needs, but the 1:3000 is a forex figure only.
The gold specification page showed placeholders of 0.00000 for spread and contract size, so FBS publishes no gold spread we can quote; the metals page's general line is "Floating spreads from 0.7 pips". On a demo, check the symbol name, the spread between 22:00 and 01:00 UK time, the swap, and the contract size the platform shows. Our guide to gold spreads at night explains why the night hour matters more than the headline.
Swap-free
FBS states that swap-free can be enabled on all real accounts, at creation or later in settings. For exotic pairs held long term the help centre says FBS charges "a fixed weekly commission starting from the second Sunday if the order wasn't closed by that day". The amount is not stated, nor whether gold counts as an exotic. Ask before holding gold swap-free for more than a week; our piece on swap on gold sets out what to compare the answer with.
Funding and withdrawals
The deposits and withdrawals page promises "instant automated withdrawals" and "commissions from 0" and names no method or fee. The help centre adds that withdrawals go back to the deposit method, are reviewed within 24 hours, reach wallets the same day and banks and cards in two to seven business days. Fees are not stated on either page.
Copy trading
FBS describes no copy trading product on the pages we read. Its "Top Traders" page is a leaderboard, and its FAQ answers whether you can copy them with "No, this page is for informational purposes only." A member who wants a Telegram channel's trades placed on an FBS MT4 or MT5 account would use a copier, which places the channel's levels at the lot size you set.
What FBS does not publish
The regulator and licence of the Belize company; the international account names and conditions (those pages failed to load); commission on the EU accounts; the gold spread and contract size; swap-free fee amounts; payment methods and fees; US residents; a head office. The help centre gives a start in 2009. Several come from pages that did not load on the day rather than anything FBS withheld; the regulator gap is the one to close before you deposit.
Who FBS suits, from the terms alone
- An EU resident who wants a CySEC entity with negative balance protection stated, MT5 and a €10 Cent account to learn on.
- A trader who wants to start with $5 to $100 at zero commission without the exact spread printed in advance.
- A gold trader for whom 1:500 is plenty, which is every signal follower sizing by stop.
Who it suits less: anyone outside the EU who wants the regulator named before signing; anyone who needs account types and fees readable before a demo; and an MT4 user in the EU, where only MT5 is offered.
