Pepperstone review for signal traders: Razor, gold, MT4 and MT5

Pepperstone's international site is run by its Bahamas company, and that one fact decides most of what follows: who may open an account there, what leverage you get, and whose negative balance clause you are reading. We read the published pages on 21 Oct 2026 as a signal follower would, account by account, with the page named for each figure. Forexero has no partnership with Pepperstone.

Who you are actually signing with

Pepperstone says it was founded in Melbourne in 2010 and runs through "9 Licensed entities globally". Four have a website with figures on it:

  • International (pepperstone.com/en): Pepperstone Markets Limited, licensed and regulated by the Securities Commission of The Bahamas, SIA-F217, company 177174 B, Nassau. Its client terms exclude residents of Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States.
  • UK: Pepperstone Limited, FCA registration 684312, company 08965105, London, through /en-gb.
  • Australia: Pepperstone Group Limited, AFSL 414530, Melbourne, through /en-au.
  • EU: Pepperstone EU Limited, CySEC licence 388/20, Limassol, through /en-eu, which is "not intended for residents of Belgium, Spain or the United States".
  • DFSA, CMA Kenya, BaFin and SCA are named without an entity or licence number attached.

The figures below are the Bahamas entity's unless we say otherwise.

Negative balance protection is stated plainly for retail clients: "if your account goes negative, we will restore it to zero", and clause 6.2 of the Bahamas terms says the same. The footnote matters: the protection does not apply to anyone classified as a Pepperstone Pro or Professional client, who get a discretionary version capped at USD$100,000, once. Vantage's international site, by comparison, does not promise the protection at all. Read the classification you are given before anything else.

The accounts, as published

AccountMinimum depositSpread fromCommissionPlatforms named
Razor$00.0 pts on FX; spot gold from 0.08 pts$3.50 a lot a side on FX and XAU/USDweb platform, app, MT5, MT4, TradingView, cTrader
Standard$0 (swap-free page: AUD$200)0.1 pips on the accounts page; EUR/USD minimum 1 pt on the pricing page$0 except share CFDsweb platform, app, MT5, MT4, cTrader

The minimum top-up is $10. Leverage on both accounts is shown as "Retail 30:1 and Pro 500:1", with no per-instrument breakdown.

A signal follower picks Razor. EUR/USD moves $10 a pip per standard lot, so $3.50 a side, $7 round turn, is 0.7 pips; the page shows a 0.01-lot trade rounding to $0.030 a side. The swap-free page gives a Standard average of 1.0 to 1.2 pips, so Razor at its floor plus commission is 0.3 to 0.5 pips cheaper, provided Razor's own average, which Pepperstone does not publish, stays near its floor. One detail to confirm: the pricing page gives the commission per platform, 3.5 USD a side on the Pepperstone platform, 6 USD round trip on cTrader, 7 USD on TradingView, and for MT4 and MT5 says only that it depends on account currency and lot size.

Retail leverage of 30:1 is rarely the constraint for a member sizing from a signal. Our position sizing guide works the lot from the stop and the risk; gold on a small balance is the one case where 30:1 can bite.

Gold, MT4 and MT5

The accounts page lists MT4 and MT5 for both accounts and names no platform-level exclusion for gold, so gold is on both by the broker's own account. The spread is published only for Razor, from 0.08 pts; the Standard gold spread is not stated, and the commodities page did not load.

On a demo, before the first live signal: check the exact symbol name, since the copier maps our XAUUSD to whatever your broker calls it; watch the spread between 22:00 and 01:00 UK time, because gold spreads widen at night and 0.08 is a daytime floor; and note the swap, which is at market rate rather than a published figure.

Swap-free

Pepperstone offers a "Swap-free account" to residents of 23 listed countries, among them Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkey; the page does not use the word Islamic. After a trade has been open five days, "an admin charge (per 1 standard lot size) will be deducted from the account's balance", and the table lists USD 100 for FX and precious metals. On a 0.01-lot gold position that is $1. The page does not say whether the charge repeats each night after the fifth, so ask before you hold a gold swing past a week.

Funding and withdrawals

Pepperstone states it charges no deposit fees. Minimums: crypto $18; Apple Pay, Google Pay, cards, PayPal, Neteller, Skrill, BPAY and PAYID $10; domestic bank transfer none. Most are immediate, bank transfer up to seven business days. Withdrawals are listed as free on every method, cards up to two business days, PayPal and e-wallets up to one, with one exception: international bank withdrawals cost $20. The minimum withdrawal is not stated.

Copy trading

The homepage offers copy trading on mobile and desktop, and the social trading page names Signal Start, MetaTrader Signals and DupliTrade as integrations. Fees are not stated. Each mirrors another trader's account. Following a Telegram channel with a copier is different: you see each signal with its stop and targets before it is placed on your own MT4 or MT5 account at your lot size, and your protection rules override the channel's.

What Pepperstone does not publish

The Standard gold spread. Razor's average spreads, as opposed to its floors. The MT4 and MT5 commission in dollars. Whether the minimum deposit is $0 or AUD$200. Any leverage figure on the UK, EU and Australian homepages. Copy trading fees. None of these is a warning sign; each is a question for the demo or for support.

Who Pepperstone suits, from the terms alone

  • A trader outside the UK, EU, Australia and the US who wants Razor at $7 round turn, gold from 0.08 pts, MT4 or MT5, and a retail negative balance clause in the terms.
  • A UK, EU or Australian trader, who gets their own regulated entity and should read that site's figures.

Who it suits less: anyone who wants leverage above 30:1 without taking Pro classification and losing the protection with it; anyone in the US; and a swap-free client who holds gold for weeks, at $100 a lot after five days.
