There is no best broker for copying signals, there is a short list of things the broker must get right, and a longer list where the differences are small. The must-haves: MetaTrader 4 or 5 on the account you open, gold tradable on that platform at 0.01 lots, a regulator you can name, and a spread on gold that does not swallow the stop at the hours your signals arrive. Everything after that, commission or no commission, 1:30 or 1:1000, is a question of what account you have and how you trade it.
We checked twelve brokers against that list. Every figure below is the broker's own published number on 21 Oct 2026; where a broker did not publish something, the table says so rather than guessing, because a review that fills gaps with assumptions is worth less than the gap.
What the copier needs from the broker
MT4 or MT5 on the account you actually open. Most brokers offer both, but not always on every account. A copier connects to a MetaTrader login; a broker's own app or a TradingView-only account is no use to it. Check the account page, not the homepage.
Gold at 0.01 lots on that platform. A signal follower sizes from the stop, and on gold with a 200-pip stop on a £1,000 account that is 0.01 or 0.02 lots. Every broker below states 0.01 as the minimum on gold where it states one at all. Check that your account type is not a cent account that renames the symbol (XAUUSDc at Exness, for example), or a shares account that excludes it.
A symbol name the copier can map. XAUUSD, XAUUSD.r, GOLD, GOLD#: brokers name gold differently, sometimes per account type. A copier that cannot find the symbol places nothing. Ours lets you map it once; our guide to broker symbol suffixes explains why the suffix exists.
The spread at the hour your signals come. A quoted "from 0.0" is the best second of the best day. The number that matters is the typical spread between 22:00 and 01:00 UK time, when gold is thinnest and a trade opened in New York is still running. Few brokers publish an average; two on this list do for gold (IC Markets and FP Markets) and HFM prints a per-account figure. For the others, a demo account open at midnight tells you in one evening. Our piece on why gold spreads widen at night has the mechanism.
Commission in pips, not dollars. A raw account's $7 round turn on a standard lot is 0.7 pips on EUR/USD (a pip is $10 a lot). Raw beats standard when the raw spread is more than about 0.7 pips tighter, which it usually is on majors and gold during London and New York, and often is not at night. On 0.01 lots the whole question is worth cents a trade.
A regulator, and knowing which one. Almost every broker here is several companies. The UK or Australian company sits under the FCA or ASIC with retail leverage capped at 30:1 and negative balance protection; the international company, in Seychelles, Vanuatu, the Bahamas, Belize or Mauritius, offers 1:500 to unlimited and sometimes states that the protection is not guaranteed. The same brand, two very different contracts. The one you get depends on your country of residence, and each review below names the entities.

Gold spread figures are copied as the brokers print them; most do not state the unit, and a "0.09" at one broker and a "16 cents" at another may be the same thing written two ways. Compare like with like on a demo.
Reading the table as a signal follower
If you want published numbers rather than promises: IC Markets, FP Markets and HFM print a gold spread you can hold them to. FP Markets' Raw average of 0.10 and IC's 0.09 are the tightest figures on the page; HFM's Zero account at 0.06 comes with a $10 per 100 oz gold commission that the others do not add. Pepperstone's Razor "from 0.08" is a minimum, not an average.
If you start small: XM ($5), FBS ($5), Octa ($25) and Vantage ($50) let you open with less than the price of one month of most signal services. A $5 account cannot size a gold signal at 1% risk, though; our position sizing guide shows why 0.01 lots on a 200-pip gold stop already risks $20. Treat a tiny minimum as a way to test the platform, not a way to trade.
If you hold gold overnight: swap-free terms differ more than spreads do. Exness and Octa make every account swap-free by default (Exness with conditions on how you trade). FP Markets charges $50 a lot a night on gold after five free nights on its Islamic account; Pepperstone charges $100 a lot after five days; IC uses a flat fee table with up to five grace days; Tickmill starts handling fees on day 41. Vantage and XM offer the account but do not print the fee. Our swap on gold article shows what a week of swaps costs at ordinary rates so you can judge whether the swap-free fee is cheaper for you.
If you are in the UK or EU: your choice is narrower than the table. Exness does not serve retail clients through its UK or EU entities. FP Markets' international site excludes the EEA; Pepperstone's international entity excludes UK, EU and Australian residents, so you are routed to the FCA or CySEC company. Vantage names no EU entity. IC Markets has no FCA entity named on its pages. In practice a UK trader has Vantage, Pepperstone, XM, Eightcap, Axi, Tickmill and HFM naming an FCA company; an EU trader has IC Markets, Pepperstone, XM, FP Markets, Eightcap, Axi, Tickmill, HFM, FBS and Octa naming a CySEC one.
If you are in the US: none of the twelve. Eight state it outright and four do not say; no broker on this list names a US entity.
On leverage: the international entities offer 1:500 (FP Markets, Eightcap), 1:1000 (Vantage, XM, Axi, Octa, Tickmill on MT5), 1:2000 on gold (IC Markets), 1:3000 on forex but 1:500 on metals (FBS), and unlimited under conditions (Exness, HFM's InfinityX). Risk per trade does not set the margin a position needs; its notional size and the broker's margin rate do. What high leverage changes is how small an account can hold a 0.01-lot gold position with margin to spare. The retail-regulated entities cap at 30:1 on major pairs and 20:1 on gold, which still holds 0.01 lots of gold on roughly $200 of margin at today's price.
The check that beats any review
Open a demo on the account type you would fund. On a Tuesday night at 23:00 UK time, write down the gold spread. On Wednesday at 14:30 UK time, when US data lands, write it down again. Place a 0.01-lot gold order at each time and read the fill against the price you clicked. Then look at the symbol name and the swap column in the contract specification. Thirty minutes of that tells you more than this page, because it is your account, your hours and your broker's live server. If the result surprises you, the spreads and fills guide on slippage explains what you saw.
Our copier connects to supported MT4 and MT5 accounts, so nothing here changes what you can connect to it; it changes what each connection will cost you per trade.
Every figure was read from the brokers' own pages on 21 Oct 2026. The individual reviews linked in the table carry the page names and the terms in full, and we refresh them when a broker changes its published numbers.
